London, June 15 (IANS) Ziona Chana, an Indian man known for having the world’s largest family, has died at the age of 76. He is survived by 38 wives, 89 children and 33 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ziona Chana, who suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure, died at a hospital in the Indian state of Mizoram on Sunday. He lived with his family in a four-story house in the northeastern Indian town of Baktaung. The building consists of 100 rooms. According to Indian media, Ziona Chana belonged to a religious sect that allows multiple marriages. This sect was formed by Ziona’s grandfather. Ziona was first married to a woman named Zathiangi at the age of 17. Within a year, Ziona had 10 wives. Her last marriage was in 2004 at the age of 60. Her daughters and son-in-law also live in Ziona’s residential building. Ziona’s son and son-in-law manage a large farm that Ziona owns. This provides for the nutritional needs of the family. There is also a furniture company whose income provides the other necessities of life for the world’s largest family. The home’s kitchen is built in the basement, offering a view of the underground parking.
